Huge haul of sea cucumbers taken into custody

The Navy arrested a suspect with 9,170 kilos of sea cucumbers at Irukkulampiddi, Mannar, on Wednesday (25). The sea cumbers had been stored in violation of the licence condition, the Navy said. The operation was carried out by the North Central Naval Command together with the Mannar Police.

The suspect is a resident of Puttalam. He and the stock of sea cucumbers were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Mannar for legal action.
