Massive protest rally organized by the Movement for Protecting the Rights of People in Uwa Wellasa was held in Bibile town today (12.03.2022). Wellassa is the heart of ancient Srilankan heritage that contains valuble environmental assets including the Nilgala forest.
Representatives of various organizations who participated, pointed out that if these lands were ever taken over by multinational companies, the lives of the innocent people living in the area would be in a very miserable fate.
All those present swore that the protests should continue until these decisions were reversed.
